Be the master of your own recovery
"We should not make comparisons with others, but seek higher spiritual and moral standards for ourselves. By doing this, we will become optimistic, and our mental health will improve" Person with experience of mental illness
How to take ownership of your recovery - step by step
"I am a patient with mental illness. Regarding the recovery experience, I think we should be the master of own recovery.
Firstly, a person experiencing mental illness shouldn't conceal their faults for fear of criticism, rather they should face facts. When you are not willing to admit your illness, it is usually indicative that your condition is severe. Whereas when you can accept the fact that you are ill, it is more likely that your condition has improved. This is because when you admit your illness and face the facts, you will try your best to overcome things.
Secondly, you need to listen to your doctor's advice, and cooperate with your doctor in your recovery process. If you have any uncomfortable feelings, or any thoughts and opinions about your treatment, you need to tell your doctor immediately. You need to adopt a positive attitude towards your recovery, try things in different ways, and then determine the most suitable methods for yourself.
In addition, as we often say that habit cures habit, you need to keep an optimistic attitude and good mood. I believe we need to learn self-adjustment for complete recovery. We need to release ourselves from unhealthy mental states and keep a happy and open heart.
It's better to take it easy, no matter what situation we are in. We should not make comparisons with others, but seek higher spiritual and moral standards for ourselves. By doing this, we will become optimistic, and our mental health will improve."
